At the close of the play on Day 1 of the second Test between Sri Lanka and Australia in Galle, the visitors were 298/5 (90) with Steven Smith (109) and Alex Carey (16) unbeaten. Batting first, Australia lost David Warner early but Usman Khawaja (37) and Marnus Labuschagne (104) rebuilt the innings, before Smith's arrival. Smith has now 28 Test tons. For Sri Lanka, Prabath Jayasuriya, one of the three debutants, picked three wickets. Australia won the first Test by ten wickets.
