To me, eighteen is the start of freedom, but also the start of responsibility. Eighteen means consent. Eighteen is the right to marry anyone. Eighteen is the right to select your leader. Eighteen is the right to legally enter a theatre to watch an ‘A’ rated movie (even though most of us have already watched one by this stage). Eighteen is being allowed to drive. While these things may not mean much to older people, trust me, when you’re 16, you want nothing more than to grow up and get all these rights bestowed on you.
