Anjum Khan, Azamgarh

She’s a student of arts at Shibli College, which has a coed campus with separate classes for boys and girls. As she works towards being a teacher, Anjum Khan dreams of an India without corruption, with less strain around religion and politics without a selfish agenda.

What I want to be

A teacher, perhaps in Delhi if my parents give me permission. But I want to be educated well first, as it is essential to evolve and grow.

My idea of India

A land where we can all live in peace and harmony and not fight amongst ourselves.

What religion means to me

There is one God, we may call him by any name and pursue religion by different means but the ultimate goal is the same. Religion guides you on how to live your life. That said, I feel religion should remain a very personal affair.

Who I will vote for

I haven’t made up my mind as yet. It seems as if political parties are only interested in themselves, in finding ways and means to make more and more money.

What makes me angry

The rampant corruption. Everything is up for sale. You can’t even get a job nowadays if you don’t pay a bribe. Most of the time, the most undeserving people get jobs by paying underhand money.

What money means to me

Money is important for survival. It needs to be handled very cauti­ously because it can also put you on the wrong track.
