Before going underground though, the JMM chief stirred it up, calling the NBW politically motivated and alleging collusion between the state government and the BJP. JMM Ranchi unit chief Samuel Gudia says "it’s a conspiracy to malign our leader’s image as there’s a fair chance he’ll be the next CM." The BJP has had to take on the issue single-handedly, what with Jharkhand ally JD(U) distancing itself from the controversy. Meanwhile, the situation in the state is tense with JMM activists up in arms. Soren’s supporters who had parted ways are now coming together to support him. The issue rocked Parliament too with the UPA government on the mat, having no explanation as to how one of its ministers had gone AWOL.
