37 Govt Employees Suspended In J&K's Kishtwar For Being Absent From Duty

Kishtwar district authorities in Jammu and Kashmir have suspended at least 37 government employees for being absent from duty without approval, an official spokesman said on Wednesday.

During a surprise inspection at government offices in Marwah tehsil on Tuesday, district development commissioner Angrez Singh Rana ordered that the employees absent without official approval be suspended.

Seventeen of the employees suspended belong to the roads and buildings department, the spokesman said.

Taking a strong view of absenteeism in government offices, the spokesman said Rana issued directions to the station house officer of the local police station to monitor punctuality of employees in the offices.

"Surprise raids were conducted during which some offices were found closed, while a number of officials were found absent from their legitimate duties in other offices," spokesman said.

He said the officials found absent were suspended with immediate effect and attached in the office of the sub-divisional magistrate until further orders.

Rana ordered officers to conduct a departmental enquiry and fix responsibility, the spokesman said.
