With the winter season in its full fervor, and Christmas right around the corner, local youth of Manali have tapped into the potential of creating a winter wonderland at Manali, by building igloos, for tourists to stay in. Manali has an extremely low temperature and might experience a snowfall soon, thus facilitating the perfect conditions for a stay in igloos.

Here's what you get The ice domes come with facilities like warm mattresses, sleeping bags, hot water bottles and fleece blankets. Safety precautions are in place. The bedding and mattresses being provided are washed and sanitised, keeping in mind the present scenario.

Since these ice domes cannot accommodate lavatories, there are shared toilets outside the domes, in enclosed tents.

There is no bathing facility however, so be ready to skip that ritual.

You can choose from different packages, depending on the price. They provide meals, beverages, activities like skiing and igloo making, and even a snow dress to save you from the chill. However, it is advisable to carry your own thermals, and extra woollens, of course.

The Keylinga campsite, which houses the ice domes, is approximately 18 km from City Centre, Manali. Another ice dome site is at Hamta in Mandi district.
