South Africa is now Letting in Indian Travellers
Good news for those who had included South Africa on their travel wish list for this year but had to shelve their plans due to the coronavirus pandemic. South Africa has recently announced that it will be allowing entry to Indians for both business and tourism purposes.
If one were to go by media reports, Indian travellers can apply for visas to South Africa at any nearby VFS Global Office from November 23.
 According to reports, the Consulate General of the Republic of South Africa has announced that every traveller will have to present a COVID-19 negative certificate and will also have to take necessary safety measures to get entry into the country.
Like other countries, South Africa had also put a hold on international travel in March, when the world decided to lock itself down to prevent the spread of the dreadful virus. The South African government had earlier allowed entry to international tourists in October this year except those belonging to India, Germany and USA, thanks to the rising number of coronavirus cases in these countries.
However, Indians will have to follow the rules mentioned by the South African authorities while visiting the nation. It would be mandatory to present a negative report of a COVID test that must have been conducted not more than 72 hours before arrival. If someone is unable to present this certificate, they will have no choice but to quarantine themselves on arrival. The South African authorities will not bear the expenditure for this quarantine.
Airports in Cape Town, Johannesburg and Durban will be operational for international flights. To get a visa to South Africa, Indians will have to submit their passports, bank statement, complete visa application form, proof that they have made a hotel booking, their daily itinerary, air tickets, passport-size pictures and a cover letter mentioning the duration and other details of their trip.
