IndiGo Announces Code-Sharing Arrangement With Air France-KLM

Passengers flying India’s popular airline, IndiGo, will find their options of traveling to global destinations widening likely from February 2022.

IndiGo has entered into a code-sharing partnership with Air France-KLM, the merged entity which forms one of the largest airline groups in Europe.

With this new partnership, Air France and KLM will offer their customers access to 25 new Indian destinations.

From their hubs in Paris and Amsterdam, Air France and KLM already serve four destinations in India: Delhi, Mumbai, Chennai and Bengaluru.

Customers of IndiGo, on the other hand, will get access to over 250 destinations (more than 120 in Europe and about 50 in the Americas) where Air France and KLM operate.

Subject to government approval, this cooperation will start in February 2022.

Code-sharing is a commercial arrangement between two airlines, allowing one of the airlines to sell seats on a flight operated by the other. A common practice in the aviation industry, it allows two or more airlines to publish and market the same flight under their own airline designator and flight number.

IndiGo also has code-sharing arrangements with Qatar Airways, American Airlines, and Turkish Airlines.

While scheduled international flights to and from India have remained suspended since March 2020, following the outbreak of the COVID-19 pandemic, a limited number of international flights are operating between India and nearly 32 countries under ‘air bubble agreements’, according to media reports.
