With COVID-19 And Cyclone Tauktae, Indian Railways Cancel More Trains, Full List Here

In the view of the cyclonic storm Tauktae, Western Railway Zone, in a notification, said that it has decided to cancel/short terminate trains

Amidst the COVID-19 lockdown added with cyclone Tauktae, the North-Western railways have decided to suspend more trains. Due to the low passenger load, ten special trains were also cancelled from May 19 until further orders.

The cancelled train services include the Jodhpur-Indore special train, the Jodhpur to Delhi Sarai Rohilla Special Train, the Jodhpur to Bilada Special Train, the Jodhpur to Barmer Special Train as well, as the Sriganga Nagar to Ambala Special Train.

Other than these special train services, the number of weekly trips of four trains were reduced. This includes a special train between Ajmer and Amritsar that will operate only on Wednesdays instead of running two days a week. 

According to a release from the Divisional Railway Manager, Hubballi, South Western Railways has also cancelled trains to avoid any accidents in the wake of the cyclone. These cancelled services include train no. 07342 Vasco da Gama-Kulem Passenger Special, train no. 07343 Vasco da Gama-Kulem Passenger Special, train no. 07344 Kulem-Vasco da Gama Passenger Special, train no. 07340 Vasco da Gama-Yesvantpur Express Special, train no. 07339 Yesvantpur-Vasco da Gama Express Special.

Apart from that, the Western Railways have cancelled 56 trains from May 15 to May 21, either originating or terminating from the Gujarat-Saurashtra region.

Some trains were also short-terminated which means that their journey will end before the final destination. Out of the 56 trains that were cancelled, three trains were cancelled on May 15, 11 trains were cancelled on May 16, 22 trains were cancelled on May 17, 13 trains were cancelled on May 18, five on May 19 and one each on May 20 and May 21.

According to the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) report, the cyclonic storm Tauktae is supposed to intensify and hit the coasts of Gujarat by May 18. The cyclone is also believed to cause heavy rainfall in different locations of Gujarat like Kutch and Diu, namely Gir Somnath, Diu, Junagadh, Porbandar, Devbhumi Dwarka, Amreli, Rajkot, Jamnagar.
