The Great Singapore Sale (or GSS) will be held online this year with online deals, virtual workshops, live-streaming activities, and virtual reality tech for shoppers. The move comes as organisers look to encourage digitalisation among retailers to create a 'new norm' shopping experience during the pandemic.
It was cancelled in May due to the COVID-19 outbreak.
The month-long annual sale, which is called “eGSS: Shop. Win. Experience” this year, will run from Sept 9 to Oct 10 and will feature 800 brands from various industries.

The event that’s organised by the Singapore Retailers Association (SRA) in collaboration with the Association of Singapore Attractions (ASA), the Singapore Furniture Industries Council (SFIC), and the Textiles and Fashion Federation (TaFF), will be making its digital debut after 26 years years of commencement.
Retailers' offerings will be consolidated on SRA's eGSS GoSpree platform, where shoppers can view these items. A host of virtual and augmented reality tools will be used to give shoppers “an immersive experience” according to the organisers.
On the platform, shoppers will also be able to play interactive games to win prizes and watch live-streamed discussions on various brands and services, among other activities. They can download various promo codes on offer for online or in-store purchases. After browsing the deals on retail, attractions, and hotels on the eGSS GoSpree platform, shoppers will be redirected to the merchants' websites and digital platforms to make their payments and purchases.
Last year’s sale had shoppers enjoying up to 70% off on the hundreds of local and international brands that were on offer.
ION Orchard, Paragon Shopping Centre, Design Orchard, Haji Lane, VivoCity, and Jewel Changi Airport are some of the big names that take part in the event every year.
