Udaipur, the crown jewel of Rajasthan has never failed to surprise us. The famed lakes and palaces of the city have made it a premiere tourist destination. Adding another feather to its cap is the latest announcement by IHCL. The hospitality arm of Tata Group, IHCL (Indian Hotels Company Ltd) has acquired Udaipur’s Fateh Prakash Palace, renaming it as Taj Fateh Prakash Palace, thereby expanding its portfolio of authentic palaces.
The property is located within the historic City Palace on the shores of the tranquil Lake Pichola and is surrounded by the Aravalli hills, Jagmandir Island and the iconic Taj Lake Palace. Built in the 19th century, during the reign of Maharana Fateh Singh Mewar, the palace served as an exclusive venue for royal functions. Today, the Taj Fateh Prakash Palace is home to 65 heritage rooms and suites, the Sunset Terrace Restaurant, Surya Darshan Bar and also the flamboyant Durbar Hall.
The magnum opus of the property is undoubtedly the last one - a banquet venue boasting a 1,000kg crystal chandelier. The luxury hotel also features meeting venues, offering guests an opportunity to celebrate events ranging from weddings to corporate conferences in a royal backdrop. Guests can choose from a variety of well-curated regal experiences which include being received in a chauffeured vintage car at the airport and unique dining options. Guests can also host glamorous soirees at Jagmandir Island in Lake Pichola, a location that has attracted royalty, film stars, global celebrities and the like, over decades.
With this latest venture, IHCL has become one of the top players in the hospitality sector in Udaipur. As per a statement by Puneet Chhatwal, Managing Director and CEO, IHCL, this addition is a milestone achievement in their growing portfolio of iconic and luxurious hotels.
