Before you go explore outside the country, you may want to look into these gorgeous places we have in India

Some may beg to differ but road trips are the best. Okay, it comes with some limitations like bad weather, car-troubles, bad roads, insufficient resources like food, first-aid...alright, road trips are not for the faint hearted, we get it. But they are fun nonetheless if you know where you are going (this may be directed to directionally-challeged but confident drivers) and if you have great company.

From the Himalayas to the beaches, from the vast plains of central India to the verdant green hills of the northeast India, the India topography is as unique as they come and driving or riding across them is not only for the adventure's sake, but can also be great learning experience. The kind of exposure to other cultures that one gets on these fun trips, they are best experienced for words may fail to convey them accurately.

It's easy to plan international trips these days, but before you go explore outside the country, you may want to look into the gorgeous places we have in India. Indian road trips are fun and here are six gorgeous road trips you may want to consider taking with friends. (Tip: Road trips are best when you have driving or riding partners to share the task of driving).

Manali to Leh Road Trip: Total distance is 551.9 kilometres. This is one of the best biking routes in India. Driving on mountain roads can be challenging so it's better to go with an experienced driver. Do this road trip for one-of-a-kind road experience and for beautiful scenery. Delhi to Spiti: Total distance is 729 kilometres. As you are nearing Himachal Pradesh, long stretch of roads will be replaced by winding roads lined with hill vegetation. Driving in hilly terrain can be challenging for inexperienced drivers. In picture--An aerial view of Hikkim village in Spiti

Guwahati to Tawang: Total distance is 443 kilometres via NH 13. This route is spectacular; you will find tea gardens of Tezpur, beautiful stretch of Nameri National Park and the gentle valleys of Dirang. It's important to rest well on this journey or any hill journey for that matter, for proper acclimatisation. In picture--Beautiful prayer flags welcome you as you enter Tawang

Raipur-Kanha-Bandhavgarh: Total distance is close to 207 kilometres. We picked this route for the beautiful landscape of vast plains and pockets of gentle rolling hills. The entire stretch is lined with tall sal vegetation. This road is best during sunset; night driving in this region means driving in pitch dark (no street lights). Experience splendid view of the night sky but at the same time, drive carefully as this is also a wildlife corridor. In picture--Kanha to Bandhavgarh road

Mumbai to Goa: Total distance is 587 kilometres. This route goes via Pune and one can get great view of the Western Ghats. In picture--Chiplun village on Mumbai to Goa road

Bengaluru to Coimbatore: Total distance is 363.5 kilometres. You will drive on both good and bad patches of road on this route but beautiful nevertheless. In picture--Areca nut plantation in Coimbatore
