Gentle inclines, panoramic views of the surrounding hills, traditionally styled Angami Naga huts and an authentic experience of ethnic Naga culture — there’s all of this to savour at the Tuophema Tourist Village. The community-run enterprise is run by different ‘khels’ or clans in the village to showcase Angami hospitality and its customs. The huts provide all the mod-cons even as they offer a close-up view of the Naga way of life: the community kitchen delivers local cuisine and locally brewed rice beer, there are village walks, treks in the vicinity and a museum as well. Tuophema is 41km north of Kohima on NH61 (taxis available). Stay at the local cottages. Contact Kevi Kense, 9436005002
