EPF Online Passbook Access Is Back After A Week-Long Hiatus. Here’s How To Check Your PF Balance

Following more than a week-long hiatus, the Employees Provident Fund Organisation (EPFO) on Wednesday announced on Twitter that its e-passbook facility is back online, and the employees can check their EPF balance.

Earlier this month, people took to Twitter to express their displeasure over the lack of online access to their EPF passbook. Several EPF members had twitted that they received error messages while trying to access their passbooks. The EPFO has now informed the users that the disruptions were caused by a technical glitch.

Scores of people frequently access the EPFO’s e-passbook facility to check their PF balance, interest credited, and other details for the financial year.

The passbook shows the employer and the employee’s monthly contribution and the total account balance for each month.

EPFO, a non-constitutional body governed by the Ministry of Labour and Employment, helps employees to save for retirement. It offers retirement saving schemes covering both Indian and foreign workers.

Media reported that the passbook access through the EPFO’s official app was also temporarily disrupted due to technical issues.

It is relatively easier for members to access their monthly statements through the UMANG (unified mobile application for new-age governance) app, as it allows them to check the EPF balance on their mobile phones.

Additionally, the app allows the member to raise and track claims. The user must go through a one-time registration process using their mobile phone number registered with the UAN (universal account number).

How To Check PF Balance

The EPFO portal permits employees to access their EPF passbook with the help of their UAN, which must be activated. Here’s how to check your PF balance:

2) Click ‘For Employees’ under the ‘Our Services’ tab, which is on the next page

3) After this, click on ‘Member Passbook’ under the ‘Services’ column

4) Enter your UAN, password, and captcha details

5) Now, you can click on ‘Login’

6) You can now check the EPF balance under the respective Member ID
