The International Yoga Festival 2023, set to be held from March 1 to 7 in Rishikesh, was the main attraction in this year’s Bharat Parv. Apart from promoting the state’s rich heritage and diverse natural wonders, the six-day event was a significant point of discussion among those visiting the Uttarakhand Tourism pavilion at the event held in Red Fort.

About The International Yoga Festival

The International Yoga Festival is set to welcome guests worldwide with six days of soulful sessions. Visitors will be able to participate in sessions led by Yogacharyas from revered yoga schools, such as the Isha Foundation, Kaivalyadhama, Krishnamacharya Yoga Mandiram, and Art of Living, among others. The festival seeks to promote Uttarakhand’s rich legacy of yoga and the importance of leading a holistic and spiritual way of life. Therefore, apart from these sessions, there will also be free medical sessions, expert-led consultation sessions and pulse tests by Ayurvedacharyas.

However, even though the endeavour is centred around generating awareness about yoga, visitors will also be able to witness many cultural performances, such as folk dance and music performances, classical bhajan sandhya, and the evening aarti across the six days.

A Cultural Medley

The Uttarakhand Tourism department also gained many visitors at Bharat Parv, attended by thousands of people, with their unique culinary offerings and cultural performances. While the performances celebrated the extensive Devbhoomi cultural legacy via music and dance, the local cuisine–featuring dishes like jhangore ki kheer, mandwe ki roti, gahat ke paratha, etc.–was a hit. Even the handmade creations made by local artisans, such as aipan art, blankets and ceramics, were appreciated greatly by everybody who visited the stall.
