Exchange your Hotel Room for an Airplane

Even though the pandemic crisis may be forcing you to put your air travel plans on hold, take a look at Airbnb’s ‘Sleep in a True Plane’ where they are offering entire planes as guest accommodation.

The offers are available across the globe.

In the United Kingdom, you have a choice of three planes. The Jet Star (manufactured in the 60s and 70s by Lockheed) in Redberth is a former private jet which has retained its original cockpit and comes with an outdoor kitchen. Or, you may opt for the Ream Hills in Preston to book the specially converted Lyn helicopter.

Another option is to book a transformed ex-Army Air Corps Lynx AH9A helicopter stationed in Kessingland. According to the website, after active service with the army all over the world, the Lynx AH9A helicopter got featured in the Fast and Furious Hobbs and Shaw film.

At the French resort town of St-Michel-Chef-Chef, there is a Skylander which has been transformed (including a bathroom in the cockpit) to accommodate four people. You can also opt for staying in an old Cessna plane located next to its original control tower in Barjac, France.

In a farm in Waitomo, New Zealand, lies a refurbished Bristol freighter. However, the sleeping area located up in the cockpit is accessible via a steep ladder.

Airbnb has also repurposed several aircraft hangars.
