NYC’s Magnolia Bakery Now In Namma Bengaluru

If you were an avid ‘Sex And The City’ fan, you’d know why Magnolia Bakery enjoys an iconic status today. Well, the Bleecker Street bakery owes its popularity to the show wherein the main lead Carrie Bradshaw confides in her best friend (Miranda) as the latter can be seen enjoying a pink iced cupcake, sitting right outside the now iconic Magnolia Bakery. Famous for its delectable desserts like cupcakes, cheesecakes, cookies and the signature banana pudding, the global food trend set by Magnolia has finally arrived in India. Well, honestly, the trend did take the world by storm a decade ago, but the bakery has finally opened its first Indian outlet in Bangalore now. A popular stop on the ‘Sex And The City’ tours in New York, Magnolia Bakery has a huge fan base in India and if your love for cupcakes knows no bounds, now you know which place to hit. 

Located in 12th main street, Indiranagar, the outlet in Bengaluru attempts to replicate the unmistakable New York vibe with the same excellent customer service that it is known for. With many outlets all over the US and overseas, like South Korea, Abu Dhabi and Dubai, the bakery is set to please the IT crowd. Inorder to appease the Indian palette, Magnolia bakery has incorporated a few local flavours as well. Much to the relief of most foodies, raisins have not made the cut.

The Magnolia Franchise for India has been acquired by the husband-wife duo, Zonu reddy and Nishchay Jayeshankar, founders of Spago foods. The soothing ambience and wide selection of lip-smacking sugary treats provide a much needed relief from the city’s relentless traffic. 

One can even say that the bakery is somewhat of a movie star now. Having shot to fame after a one minute long footage in ‘Sex and The City’, the bakery has made several other appearnaces in pop culture including a cameo in the cult classic movie ‘Devil Wears Prada’ and the drama series ‘Veronica Mars’.
