In a recently held press conference in New Delhi, Uber Technologies CEO Dara Khosrowshahi announced the launch of public transport services on the app for users in the city.

The new services will be launched in collaboration with the Delhi Metro Rail Corporation and will allow passengers to plan their trip using Delhi Metro. In addition to Uber Go, Premiere and Uber pool, passengers can now opt for the public transport feature which will present real-time details on the departure and arrival time of public transportation

The national capital will be the second city in the Asia Pacific region where such features are being offered, enabling riders to get real time information on end-to-end directions and fastest and cheapest routes. The new feature will highlight first and last mile options and pick up and drop off areas. The mobility services are expected to be provided across 210 metro stations all over the city. They also intend to provide wheelchair accessible vehicles to cater to a wider range of customers

The management has also proposed a ‘metro model station’ to display the future of smart mobility solutions and how it can be incorporated in Uber’s vision of urban mobility.

As per reports, Mangu Singh, MD,DMRC stated that this new initiative will certainly boost connectivity solutions for 6 million riders.
