The winter solstice is already considered to be a magical, mystical affair. This year, it was made even more magical with a rare ‘Christmas Star’ event. For stargazers, an opportunity sprung up after 800 long years - the great conjunction of Jupiter and Saturn.
On Monday evening, Jupiter and Saturn’s proximity to each other from Earth was record-breaking. They were only 0.1 degrees apart in the sky. Though telescopes can capture the planet duo, to the naked eye, both the planets appeared like a single bright star in the sky. An event also called the Christmas Star.
