At the entrance of the Komic monastery is a stuffed snow leopard; the lamas claim they found the dead animal near the village

In the late afternoon, I stumble upon the beautiful ruins of this abandoned home near the village
Our morning starts with our guide, Kunga Chorden, serving breakfast in his kitchen at Komic village
Kunga Chorden's parents saddle a donkey for a visit to the market at Kaza




Our charming homestay at Demul village
The village homes have been renovated and equipped with solar lighting

Dolma and our guide Kunga make momos for our dinner in the warm kitchen of Khabrick Homestay at Lhalung
Around the last bend, the Dhangkar monastery reveals itself dramatically, coddled by craggy, snowcapped peaks
From its rooftop, we see the blue veins of the Spiti river, snaking its way through the valley
