The capital city, currently in its best weather, is a delight for all those who visit. Whether it’s the delightful food, the magnificent Mughal architecture or the crazy streets, the city never disappoints its visitors. While in Delhi one can experience the constant conundrum while in Old Delhi or the serenity of the Lutyens area all in a single day. The best way to experience any city in the world in not through just talking but getting to know it, exploring it around. We of course understand that walking all the way may not be the solution but one can always get to know the city better while exploring on a cycle.
What better way to know a city than contributing zero carbon footprint, the ease of getting anywhere without having to worry about parking/transportation and getting to stop literally anywhere and get talking to people. We have a list of cycling tours that you can take in the capital city to satiate the explorer bug in you:

Old Delhi’s love affair with travellers is not unheard of. While some may find the narrow lanes suffocating, nobody can deny the rustic charm they carry. A testimony to time and a legacy of the Mughal architecture and cuisine, Dilli 6 (as we like to call it) is on everybody’s wishlist. The bylanes of Old Delhi, on a winter morning are filled with the aroma of freshly brewed chai (tea), the spices taking over the best of the air and the muffled conversations that happen in every nook and corner. From Ghalib’s haveli to Turkman Gate, Old Delhi is not just home to architectural marvels but also a delight for lovers of food. Right from street food to Mughalai delicacies, Old Delhi has it all. We suggest that you do not miss eating daulat ki chaat and some savoury street food (depending upon your tolerance for spicy food) and let the Delhi air weave it’s magic.

While Old Delhi boasts of its magnificent connect with the Mughals, New Delhi is not far behind with its Imperial architecture and a view of what the British Raj has left behind. Filled with greenery, polished roads and ample walking space around, the Lutyens zone is every city lover’s delight. With the most accessible roads one can cycle around the Rajpath area or grab a quintessential Delhi breakfast in Connaught Place. This part of the city has not only witnessed the Britisher’s legacy but also a shift in the Capital during the British Raj. After careful planning and execution the Northern part of the city was chosen to be the centre of all activity. While here, we suggest that you don’t miss the blooming amaltas, the effervescent gulmohars and wide canopy of trees covering the most part.

A major part of Mughal architecture is housed in South Delhi. Peculiarly located amongst housing societies and parks, to everyone's amazement these monuments have stood the test of time and various circumstances. Outstanding examples of Mughal architecture can be found here. Apart from this, the Nizamuddin area has a perfectly wrapped blanket of Sufism around itself. It introduces one to the mystics and poetry of Sufism. A contrast from the upscale buildings around, this tour transitions from the Dilli of the sufis to the cosmopolitan city it is now.

What to see: Safdarjung’s Tomb, Humanyun’s Tomb, Lodhi Garden, Qutub Minar, Tughalaqabad Fort, Monuments within the Qutub Complex, Nizzamudin area.

The idea behind cycling through the city is learning the story of the city by witnessing it first hand, experiencing the transition from the old to the new, soaking the realms and adventures the city’s been through and ultimately knowing the city better. What are you waiting for? Cycle it out!
