The beauty and charm of living in small yet perfect cities is incomparable and one such city in India is Chandigarh. Chandigarh is one of the best planned cities in the country and has its share of beautiful tourist attractions in the form of architecture, culture and history. The Rock Garden, for instance, is one of the most visited places in Chandigarh; Sukhna Lake has its own charm and is probably the favourite spot for the residents as well as visitors. But what does one do when everything is seen and done and you still want to go away for a quick getaway? Thanks to its location, Chandigarh is pretty close to most hill stations in Himachal Pradesh and getting to these places from the city is just a matter of quick planning. 
 
 
Amritsar
The Golden Temple in AmritsarAmritsar is situated 217km away from Chandigarh and yes, it may not be such a "quick" getaway but nevertheless, the city is always a good break and for so many reasons. Sri Harmandir Sahib or as we know, the Golden Temple, is one of the most important pilgrimage sites for Sikhs. You may also want to visit Amritsar for the famous Wagah Border Ceremony. The evening flag lowering ceremony at the India-Pakistan border draws in a huge audience daily.
 
Barog
Located 60km away from Chandigarh is a small hill station called Barog in Solan district. Temperature is pleasant all year round. The hill station is most popular for the 1143.61m long tunnel of the Shimla-Kalka Railway route. There is always light at the end of a tunnel and in this case, it is the quaint little town of Barog. Barog, though small, is quite frequented by visitors for its beautiful hills and crisp cool air. Chandigarh can get pretty hot in summer and Barog comes as a cool and quick getaway.
 
Kasauli
Kasauli is one of the most frequented hill stations in IndiaKasauli is located just 65km from Chandigarh. The picture-perfect little town of Kasauli is a perfect place to spen a quick getaway amidst beautiful lush green surroundings and a touch of nostalgia from the British past. 
 
Shoghi
Shoghi is a picturesque town just outside of Shimla (13km). The place can become quite a tourist hub during peak season and for a good reason. It is surrounded by natural beauty, a great place for birding enthusiasts and adventure lovers. It has some of the best hiking trails and is perfect for adventure activities like rappelling, rock climbing, climbing etc. Shoghi is 101.8km from Chandigarh.
 
Naldehra
Naldehra is a perfect little holiday destinationIf you are a golf enthusiast then Naldehra is perfect for you with its 18-hole golf course which has also made a name for itself as one of the most challenging golf courses--it is situated at the altitude of 2044m. Naldehra is beautiful with stretches of rolling hillocks, lusg green cover and pleasant weather throughout the year. Just the view is enough to help you unwind and escape from the hustle and bustle of the city. The air is fresh and crisp, the view perfect--just what every hill station is supposed to be like.
