Stock market holiday today: On account of Ambedkar Jayanti on April 14, 2023, the Indian stock market, comprising of the National Stock Exchange (NSE) and the Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE) will remain closed today. For those asking - is stock market open today, it must be noted that all trading activity on NSE and BSE will now resume on Monday, April 17.
As per the official holiday calendar of BSE, equity markets are closed today, on April 14, 2023. Hence, all the segments, including the equity, derivative and SLB segments will be closed for any activity on Friday. In addition to this, the Multi-Commodity Exchange (MCX) will also be closed for the first session today. It, however, will resume trading in the evening session at 5 pm.
Please note that the April 14 stock market holiday follows a pattern similar to that of other stock market holidays in April, like the one on April 7 for Good Friday. However, due to multiple long weekends and stock market holidays falling on such days, the total trading days in April were reduced to just 17.
This time, in the calendar year 2023, the Indian stock markets (NSE and BSE) have a total of 15 annual holidays. After this, there are no more stock market holidays in April. The next stock market off comes in May, on May 1, 2023 on account of Maharashtra Day.
