The high stakes of crypto applications mean developers often need to prioritize security — but that comes at the cost of poor user experience.
According to numerous UX designers, the current Web3 user experience is similar to operating a manual gearbox car—more control, but most consumers may find it pointless and awkward.
The desire to enhance the user experience of Web3 has been at the centre of talks over the years, but Web3 UI/UX designer 0xDesigner, in a tweet on July 12, highlighted that several characteristics of blockchain make it difficult to create user-friendly Web2-like applications.
The primary problem with Bitcoin applications, according to 0XDesigner, is that every activity is "irreversible" as there is no "undo button" on the blockchain, and mistakes are expensive.
“Think of it this way: Web2 is like driving an automatic car. It’s straightforward; you get in, press the pedal, and off you go. Web3, on the other hand, is more like a driving stick.
“You need to understand the gears, the clutch and constantly monitor the tachometer; otherwise, you’ll damage the transmission or stall the car,” it added.
Google Play Store To Allow Non-Gambling NFT Games
Video game publishers can now offer nonfungible token (NFT) titles on the Google Play store, according to a blog post by the store's group product manager, Joseph Mills, on July 12. Mills writes that Google Play is "pleased to share that we're updating our policy to open new ways to transact blockchain-based digital content within apps and games on Google Play.”
The video game Bitcoin Blast was removed from Google Play in 2020 for "deceptive practices" after the company barred cryptocurrency mining apps from its store in 2018. NFTs acquired outside of the App Store cannot provide customers with any exclusive advantages in a game, according to a statement in October.
Many industry professionals were led to assume that mobile NFT games were being attacked as a result of these acts and remarks. These games are acceptable on Android devices, though, according to the new Google Play policy, as long as they adhere to a few guidelines.
US Senators Reintroduce Crypto Bill
The Responsible Financial Innovation Act will establish guardrails “to prevent another FTX-style event from occurring” in the wake of the 2022 market crash and bankruptcies. US Senators Cynthia Lummis and Kirsten Gillibrand will reintroduce the bill in the Senate on July 12.
After being put on hold for about a year, the Responsible Financial Innovation Act will be reintroduced to define the roles of the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) and Commodity Futures Trading Commission in regulating digital assets and protecting consumers.
