From vast fields of soya and maize to low rolling hills, the landscape of western Madhya Pradesh changes rapidly as you drive through it. Wherever you go, there are palaces, forts, monuments, and great meandering rivers. Sacred sites like Maheshwar and Omkareshwar, are always busy with a flurry of pilgrims on spiritual journeys.

The region comes alive in the monsoon, when the mountains and grasslands are lush, and the rivers and streams run full.
