At least four people were killed and hundreds were injured on Sunday afternoon after cyclonic storm whipped through West Bengal parts. The local MeT offixce said the Mainaguri storm may have been a 'mini tornado' that accompanied a nor’wester in the region. PTI
The cyclonic storm wrecked havoc in West Bengal parts as infrastructure and properties were left damaged. Around 367 people had to be hospitalised for injuries, even as initial estimates said there were 'massive' loss to property at Jalpaiguri Sadar and Maynaguri blocks. PTI
The five minute fury on Sunday afternoon left behind a trail of destruction in West Bengal parts with Jalpaiguri being the worst hit. The local MeT office said the cyclonic storm generated an estimated wind speed of around 60kmph to 70kmph, though the speed inside the system must have been much more. PTI

The short cyclone has left behind a trail of destruction with several houses left devastated. The local MeT office said Nor’westers are often accompanied by such mini tornadoes, which cause extensive destruction and loss of life which seems to have happened in Jalpaiguri on Sunday. PTI
The affected families due to the five minute fury are being now shifted to safer location as their houses have been damaged. A cyclonic storm that lasted for five minutes in West Bengal on Sunday has caused widespread damage to infrastructure with Jalpaiguri district in the state being worst hit. PTI
Around 367 people reportedly had to be hospitalised for injuries, even as initial estimates said there were 'massive' loss to property in West Bengal parts. The local hospital adminstration said 166 patients came to the hospital with injuries and 36 of them have been admitted and 3 people were brought dead. PTI
West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee said the district administration would also provide compensation to next of kin in the case of the deaths, and the injured as per rules. She left for the affected areas hit due to the cyclonic storm and took stock of the rescue and relief operations. PTI
