The glitch was detected on Thursday night when the train arrived at Delhi station from Katra and was undergoing maintenance, the spokesperson said.

The train's AC stopped working 10 minutes before reaching Allahabad station at 4:50 pm. The defect was rectified, cooling ensured and it left at around 6.00 pm, the officials said.

Commercial run of the train will begin from October 5 and it will run on all days of the week except Tuesday.

The move is part of a six-month pilot project to take forward Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Railway Minister Piyush Goyal's dream of making the railways more competitive by providing world-class service to passengers.

A shower of ballast came flying towards Vande Bharat Express when Dibrugarh Rajdhani crossing on the adjoining line had a cattle run over.

The train was crossing the Tundla junction when the incident happened.

Train 18, which was recently rechristened Vande Bharat Express, had left Varanasi Junction for Delhi at 10:30 pm Friday, nearly 45 minutes after reaching the holy city on its inaugural journey.
