Hizbul Mujahideen today asked military ruler General Pervez Musharraf to respond to India's invitation for talks after "meticulous consideration" but other Pakistan-based militant outfits termed it as an Indian "trap" and "farce".

"Musharraf should respond to the invitation of India after meticulous consideration of all the aspects," Hizbul Chief Syed Salahuddin said.

He said either India should accept UN resolutions on Kashmir or hold purposeful and constructive tripartite talks.

Lashker-e-toiba (LeT) chief Hafiz Mohammed Saeed said India strengthened its position during the ceasefire by erecting fences along the LOC and had recently conducted military exercises.

All these developments suggested that India prepared for a "bigger attack on Pakistan," he said adding in such a situation the Pakistani leadership should improve its defence capability instead of going for talks.

Harkat-ul-Mujahideen leader Maulana Fazlur Rehman Khalil described the invitation as a "farce" and said that calling off of the ceasefire by India would not make any difference to the militants.

Chief of another militant group Al-badr mujahideen, Bakht Zamin, warned that Pakistan would stand to lose if it entered the "peace trap" set by India.

He said militants would not not accept any offer of dialogue with India unless it withdrew its security forces from Kashmir and allowed Kashmiris to decide their fate.
