United States might, very soon, introduce new vetting standards that would ask people coming to the US to hand over their social media passwords and deny them entry in they refuse, the Secretary of Homeland Security John Kelly informed the Congress.

Kelly's latest statement is a clear indicator of the fact that the 'extreme vetting ' of immigrants may not be temporary and may get more extreme, reported The Daily Beast.

"We may want to get on their social media, with passwords. It's very hard to truly vet these people in these countries, the seven countries. But if they come in, we want to say, what websites do they visit, and give us your passwords. So we can see what they do on the internet," he said.

In his address, he repeatedly denied the order is a 'Muslim ban,' saying the countries chosen are those where the US does not trust the capabilities of local police and government to identify and provide records on its citizens.

"Anyone who refused to cooperate would be barred from entering the US," he was quoted saying by Fox News. He made clear that no decision has been made, but tighter screening was on its way.
