Days after Indira Gandhi Institute of Medical Sciences (IGIMS) in Bihar made Aadhar mandatory for admission, now Patna University has asked its students to compulsorily fursnish their Aadhar numbers to attend Prime Minister Narendra Modi's event.
The move is directed by the district administrations, reported The Telegraph. Post-graduation students and the doctoral research fellows, who want to attend the October 14 event, were asked to fill an online form available at the varsity's website that clearly stated "have to upload the scan (sic) copy of their Aadhaar card and identity card".
In addition to mandatory Aadhar, the PU has also restricted students and research scholars who are associated with certain student bodies, to enter the venue as they might create trouble.

Modi is scheduled to attend Patna University's 100 years' celebration. The district and the university administration have stepped up efforts by limiting students for a swift event.
Apart from Prime Minister Modi, chief minister Nitish Kumar, deputy chief minister Sushil Kumar Modi, and Union ministers Ram Vilas Paswan, Ravi Shankar Prasad, Upendra Kushwaha, and Ashwini Choubey will attend the function, the report added.
In a first in Bihar, IGIMS, yesterday made it mandatory for patients to furnish their Aadhaar number before admission, becoming the first hospital in the state to do so.
The government has recently made Aadhaar mandatory for all post office deposits, PPF, the National Savings Certificate scheme and Kisan Vikas Patra.

Earlier this year, the Supreme Court while making the landmark judgement on privacy had said that Aadhaar was optional.
"How can you make Aadhaar mandatory despite a clear order to make it optional. Is making Aadhaar by force the only way to tackle fraud?" a furious Supreme Court told the Centre in April.
