India's 16-member squad for the three-Test series in England in July featuresrookies Ishant Sharma, Ranadeb Bose and the relatively less experienced SSreesanth manning the fast bowling department spearheaded by Zaheer Khan.

Notable omissions were Munaf Patel and Irfan Pathan, the former due to injuryand the latter being out of favour with the selectors.

Srinath, now an ICC match referee, believed the presence of Venkatesh Prasadas bowling coach would help the youngsters.

"Prasad has a lot of experience and he should be able to guide the youngpace bowlers," Srinath said, on the sidelines of the prize distributionceremony of the NCA inter-zonal tournament for the 'Col Hemu Adhikari Trophy' inBangalore.

"England tour is a good chance for youngsters to establish themselves.Young pacers should be able to exploit the English conditions provided they havethe right attitude."

Srinath reposed faith in his former India teammate to help the youngsters indealing with injuries.

"It (injury) is part and parcel of the game. Prasad should be able tomanage that. He knows that pace and movement is a deadly combination."

He, however, wanted the youngsters to realise that retaining the India capwas harder than earning it.

"There is a lot of difference between domestic and internationalcricket. Hopefully guys understand that quickly. In this respect the seniorshave quite a lot of work to do with the juniors."

He also heaped praise on Rahul Dravid for his leadership skills.

"Dravid has done a commendable job. No doubt England will be an extrachallenge but knowing his frame of mind and depth of knowledge he should be ableto cope with it," he said.

Srinath offered a dead bat defence to a query on 72-year-old Chandu Borde, aformer captain and chief selector, being appointed manager of the team.

"Borde should be able to do a good job for us, hopefully. Anyway,somebody has been given the job and we should respect that."
