A CCTV footage of a biker being badly beaten up for standing up against an SUV driver, who was driving on the wrong side of the road, is going viral on social media.

The biker, identified as Sahil Batav, a 22-year-old student from Bhopal, is now being hailed for showing his courage for taking on the rowdy driver. 

According to Times Now, in the incident, which happened on November 3, the biker can be seen stopping his two-wheeler in front of the SUV which was coming from the wrong side of the road.

The video shows a man with a bike refusing to move even when the SUV threatens to run over him.

After a few minutes, the biker can be seen clicking pictures of the SUV number plate. The SUV driver also got down and clicked pictures of the bike's number plate.

But soon the incident turned violent when the driver started beating up the biker and pushed him across the police barricades on the road. The biker also hit back, but he can be seen limping after the brawl.

“I was driving in my lane when this SUV came speeding on the wrong side. When we came face to face, I refused to move and asked him to take back his car as he was driving on the wrong side. I stood ground, took a picture of his number plate, but he didn’t move. He smoked inside his car, kept sitting there,” Sahil told Zee News.

He added that all this while, people gathered to watch what was happening but none of them came forward to help.

SHO of Chunabhatti police station Awdesh Bhadoriya told Outlook that the accused driver, also a student, was arrested on the same day of the incident and the case is in court.

According to the reports, the driver of the car has been taken into custody and an FIR has been lodged against him.

The video of the incident, which was first posted on Facebook by an Indore-based resident Nilay Verma, has already got more than 3.5 lakh “likes” in three days.

“World need more people like this rider.. Who dare enough to know the wrong and stand against it till end… Whom ‘will’ can’t be shattered as easily as the wrongdoers think… Highly appreciable initiative, my salute,” Nilay wrote in his Facebook post.

As per 2015 statistics released by National Crime Records Bureau (NCRB), Kerala, Tamil Nadu, Madhya Pradesh, Karnataka and Maharashtra are the top five states in India which have the highest number of cases of “Causing injuries under Rash driving/ Road rage”.

The overall cases of road rage and rash driving in the country amounted to 451,069, which means almost 33 people out of every 100,000 poured out their wrath while driving on Indian roads! What’s more, such incidences have gone up by 10% compared to 2014 – when the overall number of cases was 409,899.
