On Sunday, about 1000 guests were part of a  wedding party in Thane that looked like an ordinary one. But it was "special" because most of them were India's top chain snatchers who had come to bless a fellow chain snatcher.

The 20-year-old groom, Toufiq Teji Shah alias Irani, with over 25 cases of chain-snatching against him, was getting married to his aunt’s daughter Sohra Irani. The event was attended by India's top chain-snatchers, thieves and master-muggers from Delhi, Bhopal, Aurangabad, Karnataka and Mumbai, reports Mumbai Mirror.

Despite the presence of 21 policemen near the venue, keeping a close eye on the event, there was no intervention as they thought it could have led to an uproar.

In 2012, Toufiq was first arrested and booked under the Maharashtra Control of Organised Crime (MCOCA). Subsequently, the police had recovered  a huge number of stolen chains and other valuables.

He was released on bail, but couldn't stop himself from continuing to do what he is best at. He was booked under MCOCA again in 2016. However, he is yet to be arrested.

An inquiry has been ordered by Thane Police Commissioner Parambir Singh, who has said that the accused will be arrested soon.
