Upset with the increased Delhi metro fares, the Students federation of India has threatened to start a 'movement' if subsidised tickets for students are not introduced in the form of passes.
Concessional passes for DTC busses are offered to students at a minimal monthly rate of Rs 100 for all routes.
The Delhi government had slashed fares of DTC and cluster buses by whopping 75 per cent from January 1, this year.
The Delhi Metro on the other hand, announced revised fares which came into effect Wednesday.
The new minimum fare will be Rs 10, up from Rs 8, while the maximum would be Rs 50 till September, and Rs 60 from October, as against the erstwhile Rs 30.

The hike has left students who survive on pocket money, unhappy and the SFI demands for concessional pass for students, similar to the bus passes.
"While on one hand, the central government is ready to give lakhs of crores of tax concessions to big businesses of the country, it is not ready to make adequate investments in public transport system,", a Times of India report quoted SFI member Sunand Singh as saying.
According to the report, the SFI has been protesting against the fare hike, demanding a reversion of the hike, and making the report by the Fare Fixation Committee public.
The metro fare hike didn't impress the Delhi government too that has been encouraging public to use public transport.

"The Delhi government had told DMRC increase in fares will force commuters to shift to personal vehicles and in fact fares should be reduced. The government in its opinion had told DMRC that women and students would be adversely affected in case of a fare hike," a government spokesperson said.
