Bollywood legend Sridevi's body will reach Mumbai tonight and the funeral will take place tomorrow late afternoon, the family said in a statement.

In a detailed announcement, the family said her body will be kept at Celebration Sports Club in Lokhandwala for people to pay their last respects before it is taken for cremation.

"On behalf of Khushi, Janhvi, Boney Kapoor, the entire Kapoor and Ayyappan families, a sincere thanks to the media for your continued sensitivity and support during this emotional moment," the statement read.

It said that well-wishers can pay their condolences from 9.30 a.M. To 12.30 p.M. At Celebration Sports Club, Garden No 5, Lokhandwala Complex, Andheri West.

The family said media can also pay their respects "provided camera, recording devices, etc are left outside the venue".

"The last journey will commence at 2 pm from Celebration Sports Club to Vile Parle Seva Samaj Crematorium and Hindu Cemetery."

The cremation will take place at around 3.30 p.M.

The 54-year-old actor, known as Indian cinema's first woman superstar, passed away in her hotel room in the Jumeirah Emirates Towers late on Saturday.

Earlier, the Dubai Public Prosecution has approved the release of the body of legendary actress Sridevi to her family following the completion of a comprehensive investigation into the circumstances of her death, the Dubai government's media office tweeted on Tuesday.

"The Dubai Public Prosecution stressed that all regular procedures followed in such cases have been completed. As per the forensic report, the death of the Indian actress occurred due to accidental drowning following loss of consciousness. The case has now been closed," it added.

Earlier in the day, the Dubai Police handed over the letters for releasing mortal remains of Sridevi to the Indian Consulate and her family members so that they can proceed for embalming, tweeted The Consulate General of India in Dubai.

The mortal remains of Sridevi are expected to arrive in India on Tuesday, as authorities in Dubai continue to investigate her death. The forensic report released by the Dubai police on Monday said Sridevi died of “accidental drowning” in her Dubai hotel bathtub on Saturday.

Her stepson Arjun Kapoor arrived in Dubai on Tuesday to be with his father Boney Kapoor as he wraps up formalities and takes the body home to Mumbai.

"Dubai Police has handed over the Consulate and the family members letters for the release of the mortal remains of the Indian cinema icon Sridevi Boney Kapoor so that they can proceed for embalming," the Consulate General of India tweeted.

The police also recorded the statement of Boney Kapoor, husband of Sridevi. Kapoor reportedly discovered Sridevi unconscious in the bathtub filled with water. She was taken to a hospital where she was declared dead on arrival. The Police called in Kapoor to Bur Dubai police station for investigation. Police took his statement after which he was allowed to go back to his hotel room, sources were quoted as saying by the Gulf News.

Meanwhile, Indian ambassador to the UAE asked media to be responsible in reporting about Sridevi’s death.

“The media interest in untimely demise of #Sridevi is understandable. But the frenzy of speculation does not help. Imp to note that: 1. We are working with local authorities to ensure that mortal remains can be sent to India at the earliest. We are on the job. 2. We are in regular contact with the family of #Sridevi and other well- wishers. We share their pain. 3. Our experience in similar cases tells us that it does take 2-3 days to complete processes. 4. We leave it to the experts to determine cause of demise. Let’s be responsible,” he wrote in a tweet.

On Monday, shocked celebrities and fans of Sridevi flocked to the residence of her brother-in-law Anil Kapoor, as they tried to come to grips with the sudden death of the versatile actor who had ruled over hearts and Bollywood for decades.
Mourners gathered at the Kapoor bungalow, where Sridevi and her husband Boney Kapoor's daughters, Jhanvi and Khushi, have been staying since Sunday. Anil Kapoor is Boney Kapoor's younger brother.
Fans waited outside for a last glimpse of their screen idol.
"She went too soon. It is heartbreaking. I am just waiting to see her one last time," said Satish Kumar, a 40-year-old fan from Bikaner. The ardent admirer, who said he had travelled all the way from Rajasthan to bid her goodbye, reached Mumbai last night, and was following the news of the body being brought back to India to ensure he didn't miss her "when she comes".
Among the celebrities who called on the Kapoors to express their grief were film-makers Farah Khan, Karan Johar, Farhan Akhtar and Ritesh Sidhwani and others from the industry such as Resul Pookutty, Saroj Khan and Honey Irani.
