Highlights: IPL 2019, KXIP Vs SRH – Unbeaten KL Rahul Anchors Punjab's Thrilling Last Over Win Over Hyderabad

What a finish. Two Punjab boys Sandeep Sharma and Siddarth Kaul almost stole it for the visiting team SunRisers Hyderabad at the Punjab Cricket Association Stadium, Mohali. But Kings XI Punjab, once again, showed nerves of steel to win yet another thriller this season. Remember how they won against Delhi Capitals some nights ago.

KL Rahul played an unbeaten match-high knock of 71 runs from 53 balls with the help of seven fours and a six to anchor the chase. His 114-run second-wicket stand with fellow Karnataka batsman Mayank Agarwal laid the foundation to a tricky chase.

Spare some thoughts for David Warner, who hit a seventh successive IPL fifty against KXIP. Without his 70 runs from 62 balls, SRH might not have a game to fight for. In the end, the Aussie became a 'guilty party' with a misfield in the penultimate ball of the match when the hosts needed two from two.

And the man of the match KL Rahul, it seems, has presented himself with a chance to win a  World Cup ticket with the Indian team announcing next week probably. This was his third fifty in four matches, after another 71 not out against Mumbai Indians and  55 against Chennai Super Kings.

And tonight's result means that KXIP have moved to third place, while SRH are in fourth.

11:28 PM IST: Sandeep Sharma keeps Hyderabad in the hunt. He first had Mayank Agarwal (55 off 43) caught at deep midwicket by Vijay Shankar. FoW-132/2 (17.1 Over). David Miller joined KL Rahul in the centre. And he didn't last long. Holed out at long on with Deepak Hooda taking the catch. That happened off the last ball of the over. 11:21 PM IST: Siddarth Kaul leaking runs. Mayank Agarwal hits the first ball for a six to reach to 49. A single off the next ball and fifth IPL fifty for him, in 40 balls. Agarwal then hits a straight four off the fourth ball even as Manish Pandey tries in vain to stop the ball. KXIP-132/1 after 17 overs. 13 runs from the over. Kaul's figures so far: 3-0-37-0. 11:12 PM IST: Searching for wickets, captain Bhuvneshwar Kumar gets himself into the attack and one of the senior members of the team, Yusuf Pathan drops Mayank Agarwal at sweeper cover. Easy. That happened off the fourth ball. Eight runs from the over. KXIP-119/1 after 16 overs. They need another 32 runs from 24 balls. Karnataka duo KL Rahul (59 off 44) and Mayank Agarwal (43 off 38) have added 101 runs from 77 balls. Time out.

10:13 PM IST: There were warnings against going for sixes. But Chris Gayle (16 off 14) fails to curve his enthusiasm and Rashid Khan gets the big wicket. Caught at long-on by Deepak Hooda. Brilliant catch. FoW-18/1 (3.1 Over).

10:11 PM IST: Chris Gayle hits the first ball for a huge six, over long-on. A dot ball, then the big man plays a wild swing. Top edge and it almost sails over fine leg. But Siddarth Kaul chases it down to restrict to a double. Bhuvi responds with a short ball, but Gayle misses it. Another dot and a single to end the nine-run over. KXIP-18/0 after three overs.

10:06 PM IST: Sandeep Sharma shares the new ball with the skipper. Two dot balls and Chris Gayle hits first four of the innings, to long on boundary. 9:50 PM IST: David Warner grinded out for the team, scoring his slowest IPL fifty. In fact, his 62-ball 70 is third lowest scores by an unbeaten batsman in IPL after facing 60 and more balls. But with a brilliant attack, Hyderabad might have posted enough scores. Mind you, Hyderabad have previously defended 150 twice against Punjab at Mohali in 2013 and 2015.

9:45 PM IST: Mohammed Shami gets his first wicket. He had Manish Pandey (19 off 15) caught at deep mid-wicket by sub Karun Nair. FoW-135/4 (19.1 Over). David Warner misses the bounder. Attempted ramp shot. A single and Deepak Hooda plays it fine for a four. Good yorker and a lucky nick. Meanwhile, reviews showed that ball had indeed flicked Warner gloves off the second ball. 9:37 PM IST; Sam Curran on and Manish Pandey gets a four off the first ball, thanks to his innovative shot. Cheeky. Lofted the slower ball over the cordon. A single off the third ball and fifty-run stand between David Warner and Pandey in 31 balls. 9:20 PM IST: What a time to launch the attack. David Warner, who's been playing a rather sedate knock, hits the first ball of the 16th over for a six, into the sightscreen. Four singles. Six off the first ball of an over always helps. Warner takes a double to reach his fifty, in 49 balls. One of his slowest in T20s. 8:13 PM IST: Afghan teen Mujeeb Ur Rahman introduced right away. The offspinner's four overs will be crucial against David Warner, who has had successive six half-centuries against Punjab before today. And the first wicket for KXIP. Jonny Bairstow plays a casual flick shot, and skipper R Ashwin takes a very good catch at mid-wicket. FoW-7/1 (1.4 Over). And with that SRH fail to have a good opening stand for the second time in two matches. And the new man Vijay Shankar took two balls to hit the first four of the match. 7: 31 PM IST: Ravi Ashwin have won the toss and opted the bowl first. And once again leading the SunRisers are Bhuvneshwar Kumar as there is no news about Kane Williamson. Considering the capitulation we witnessed against Mumbai Indians, his presence should be advised...

7:28 PM IST: Despite middle-order concerns, this fight can be settled in the battle between Punjab batsman and Hyderabad bowlers.

7:25 PM IST: And the area of concerns as vividly played out against their respective last matches is fragile middle order. Hyderabad have been empowered by the presence of David Warner and Jonny Bairstow, while Punjab also lost two of the three matches in which they batted second.

7:20 PM IST: Both the sides have many positives to talk about. Kings XI Punjab have shown the ability to win close matches as did against Rajasthan Royals, Mumbai Indians and Delhi Capitals, but have failed against Kolkata Knight Riders and Chennai Super Kings – two teams currently at the top of the table with eight points each.

Like Punjab, Hyderabad also have six points but are placed third thanks to a better net run-rate. They too lost to Kolkata, then went onto beat Rajasthan, Royal Challengers Bangalore and Delhi Capitals, but were exposed against Mumbai.
