All four accused in the rape and murder of a 25-year-old woman veterinarian doctor in November 2019, were killed by the Hyderabad police in an encounter on December 6. The incident took place in around 6:30 AM, when the accused were taken to the crime scene near Hyderabad as part of the investigation.

It is being alleged that the accused snatched weapons from the police and tried to espace from Chatanpally, near Shadnagar, which kickstarted the encounter and thereby their death.

The response to the sudden turn of events has received mixed reactions regarding the incident, with many sportspersons also congratulating the cops.

Wrestler Geeta Phogat took to Twitter, and saluted the police for their action.

Former India cricketer Harbhajan Singh took Twitter, stating, "Well done @TelanganaCMO and police for showing this is how it is done no one should dare doing something like this again in future #makeitsafeindia".

Babita Phogat congratulated the Hyderabad police, mentioning that it made the country feel safer.

The accused killed were identified as lorry drivers, cleaners Mohammed Arif (26), Chintakunta Chennaskeshavulu (20), Jollu Shiva (20) and Jollu Naveen (20). They hailed from Telangana's Narayanpet district.
