Earlier in the day, the former India captain suffered a "mild" heart attack and was admitted to a hospital in Kolkata. A team of five doctors was constituted to supervise his treatment.
Ganguly was diagnosed with three blocked coronary arteries after which a stent was inserted in one to remove the blockage, Dr Saroj Mandal, whose team performed the procedure at private Woodlands Hospital, said.
A decision on whether to implant more stents will be taken later depending on his condition.

"He will be under strict observation for the next couple of days. We will be taking a decision on our next course of action depending on his improvement. His other parameters are fine and needs to be in the hospital for next three to four days," Mondal said.
Before the surgery, the Woodlands hospital issued a statement saying, "Mr Sourav Ganguly, 48 years old, President BCCI, former Captain of Indian Cricket team and eminent personality suffered from chest discomfort while doing tread mill at his home gym. He had family history of IHD ØE Ischemic heart disease. When he came to the hospital at 1pm, his pulse was 70/min, BP 130/80 mm of Hg and other clinical parameters were within normal limits. His ECG showed hyper acute ST segment elevation in inferior leads and lateral leads. Echo showed mild inferior wall hypokynaesia with preserved overall left ventricular function. He is stable haemodynamically. He has received loading doses of dual anti platelets and statin and is undergoing primary angioplasty now."

Ganguly, 48, complained of chest pain following a workout session on Friday evening and family members took him to the hospital this afternoon when the problem recurred.
Ganguly's election as BCCI president ended a 33-month reign of the Supreme Court-appointed Committee of Administrators (CoA).
He is the 39th president of BCCI succeeding CK Khanna. Ganguly had earlier held positions in the Cricket Association of Bengal. The former India captain began as joint secretary at the CAB in 2014.
BCCI secretary Jay Shah tweeted and prayed for Dada's speedy recovery. Shah said he has spoken to Ganguly's family and Dada is stable.
West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee also took to twitter to wish former India cricket captain full recovery.
