A history-sheeter has been arrested in connection with the killing of a techie from Odisha which the police on Wednesday said was a fallout of road rage in Bengaluru. 

On Tuesday, Karthik, 24, allegedly pelted stones and whipped out a knife when a police team went to arrest him, forcing them to open fire at him, the police said.

He was injured in the leg while his associate Arun managed to escape, they said.

The case pertains to road rage, deputy commissioner of police (South East Division) MB Boralingaiah said.

Pranay Misra's, 28, scooter had hit Karthik and his associate Arun's motorcycle and the duo had demanded Rs 500 for the damage on Monday.

As Misra refused to pay, they chased and intercepted him before stabbing him to death, Boralingaiah said.

The police said Misra, a software engineer, was proceeding on his scooter to meet his girlfriend when the incident took place.

The accused were caught based on a video footage obtained from a CCTV camera on a mobile phone tower, he said.

When the police went to arrest the duo on Tuesday near Huskur gate, Karthik and Arun were on a motorcycle.

The police arrested him while Arun managed to escape.

A search is on to arrest him, the police said, adding a case of murder and robbery has been registered against the duo.
