Security Forces Arrest Four Maoists Responsible For The Sukma Attack

In a major crackdown, security forces have arrested four rebels responsible for the attack in Sukma district of Chhattisgarh where 25 soldiers were killed.

Quoting sources, a report by The Times of India  said that the cadres were arrested on Wednesday evening from Phoolbadri area in Sukma, near the attack site in Burkapal.

Another source informed that two of them have confessed they were part of the attack team, which was headed by commander of 1st battalion of the People's Liberation Guerrilla Army (PGLA) Hidma.

Currently, interrogation is underway to find  the whereabouts of Hidma, their other senior leaders and further plans, he added.

On Thursday, two naxal commanders were gunned down in retaliatory action by the CRPF personnel.

At least 11 suspects have been rounded up for questioning by the CRPF and state police in Chintalnar, Chintagufa and Burkapal areas of Sukma since the April 24 attack in Burkapal area under Chintagufa police station limits.

Post the deadly attack, CRPF commandos, Chhattisgarh police and other forces have been looking for Maoist cadres and leaders in the dense jungles. The teams are getting technical and air assistance by the Indian Air Force and National Technical Research Organisation (NTRO), the report adds.

The Naxal attack in Sukma targeted a 100-strong CRPF patrol that was providing security cover to road-construction activity in the Kalapathar area of Bastar, a region where left-wing extremism is rampant.

The fierce gunfire from Maoists occupying vantage positions lasted about three hours and left at least 25 CRPF personnel dead and seven wounded.
