"In Delhi, of course, people eat a lot between 1 and 2.30pm, but the whole culture and attitude is different—and not to my taste". The ed-in-chief bemoaned the capital's historic lack of eatiquette, way back in 1991.

Some of the Delhi restaurants I have mentioned have either disappeared or become unfashionable or are just downmarket. In 1991 I survived on them. The purpose of this piece is both nostalgic and expression of gratitude to Kwality and Nirula’s—where I still go.
