AIADMK Deputy General Secretary Sasikala Natrajan, who is currently lodged in a Bengaluru jail serving a four-year-jail term in the disproportionate assets case has once again applied for better facilities in the prison.

According to a party member, the 61-year-old hopes to get better facilities in view of her age and poor health. She has demanded better amenities like a cot, mattress, table fan and attached bathroom so that she can take care of her health till she gets transferred to the Central Jail in Chennai, informed V Pugazhendi, secretary of the AIADMK's Karnataka unit to IANS.

Earlier, Sasikala's requests for home made food and mineral water were denied by the jail authorities.

The AIADMK general secretary is currently serving her sentence at the Parapanna Agrahara prison in Bengaluru.

The Supreme Court had on 14 February restored Sasikala’s conviction in the disproportionate assets case, awarding four years jail term to her and her relatives, besides imposing a fine of Rs10 crore each.

Sasikala will be in jail for three years and about 11 months, out of the four years sentence awarded by the trial court. She had earlier spent 21 days in Parappana Agrahara jail after conviction by the trial court in September 2014 along with former chief minister Jayalalithaa.
