Prime Minister Narendra Modi coined a new acronym to target the incumbent Manik Sarkar government while addressing a rally in poll-bound Tripura today.

Modi said people of Tripura have been wearing a wrong 'manik' (gemstone) which should be replaced by a 'HIRA', H-Highway, I=Iways R=Roads A=Airways, reported news agency ANI.

"Some people wear rings of particular gemstones for improving luck and  life. But if you wear a wrong manik (gemstone) then it causes trouble. So Tripura had a wrong 'Manik', time to take it off and wear a HIRA, 'H-Highway, I=Iways R=Roads A=Airways'," he said.
He went on to say that the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has chalked out an all-rounder plan for Tripura, where the Assembly Elections will be held on February 18.

While addressing an election rally here, Prime Minister shared the '3T' plan for the north-eastern state.

"We are focusing on 3Ts for Tripura - Trade, Tourism, Training of the youth so that they get opportunities to shine," he said.

The Assembly Elections in Tripura are slated to be held on February 18 and the counting will take place on March 3

Modi's fondness with self-styled acronyms goes back to when he became the Prime Minister in 2014. From  targeting SCAM (Samajwadi Party, Akhilesh Yadav, Congress and Mayawati) in Uttar Pradesh to fighting with AK49 ( Arvind Kejriwal-49 (49 days in government)), to RSVPing (Rahul, Sonia, Vadra, Priyanka) the Congress party, the PM has coined about 40 acronyms to attack his opponents and highlight the BJP's achievements.

His latest acronym, however, is 'TOP'. The PM on Sunday said in an address in poll-bound Karnataka that farmers are his "TOP" priority, and explained that by "TOP", he meant "tomato, onion and potato".

Congress' Karnataka Unit took the opportunity to reply to the PM in the same manner, calling his government NDA- (Not Doing Anything).

Some of PM's well-known acronyms

ABCD- If the Prime Minister was a primary school teacher, this is what he might have taught the children - A for Adarsh, B for Bofors, C for Coal and D for Damaad. PM Modi coined this to define Congress Party in 2014.

3 AKs- According to Narendra Modi, Pakistan admired 3 AKs- AK 47, AK Antony and AK-49 (Arvind Kejriwal).

NITI-Replacing Planning Commission, the Prime Minister introduced this policy think tank, calling it NITI Aayog, where NITI stands for 'National Institution for Transforming India'.

FDI- In concurrence with the BJP's 'Make in India' agenda, Modi reinterpreted FDI as 'First Develop India', as against its actual expansion ' Foreign Direct Investment'.

MOM- “I was sure Mom won’t disappoint us,” PM Modi said after the success of MOM - Mars Orbiter Mission. Pun intended.

VIKAS - Vikas, as a hindi word, means development. The PM made it an acronym standing for 'Vidyut (Electricity), Kanoon (law) and Sadak (Road)'. He coined this term to give a new meaning to the hindi word.

SABKA - The PM seems to have an inclination towards categorising his rivals in a way that is easy to remember, much like students do before exams. SABKA stands for Samajwadi Party, Bahujan Samaj Party, and Congress party. He used this term to appeal destruction of SABKA (all the three parties) in 2014.
