In a startling revelation, former Finance Minister P Chidambaram has claimed that ex- RBI (Reserve Bank of India) governor Raghuram Rajan stepped down from the post because he was against demonetisation.
Chidambaram has said that someone from RBI had witten a letter to the Centre on the same day when Rajan had resigned. He has challenged the government to make the letter public, reports Economic Times.
"If the government is transparent, it should make that note (letter) public. The note was written on behalf of RBI. It was about demonetisation arguing why it should not be implemented," Chidambaram said during a book launch event.

He claimed that the government made it very difficult for Rajan to continue in the post as the latter was against the demonetisation move.
