Being three short of a simple majority was not really a comforting enough thought for Congress/TMC combine till today, since the decision from AIADMK was still awaited -- andwith Amma not dependent on Congress in Tamil Nadu, it seemed certain that she wouldmake them sweat some more. But finally Amma has broken the suspense telling reporters today that if the combine sought the support of her party "it would be given".

Former chief minister V Vaithyalingam is likely to bechosen leader of the alliance legislature party, according to Congress sources.
Pradesh Congress Committee President V Narayanasamy and Chief Minister PShanmugham have said that since the AIADMK is an ally in Tamil Nadu, there is noreason for it not to support the Congress-TMC combine in the union territory.
According to AIADMK sources, a decision on extending support will be taken ina few days, after consultations with party supremo Jayalalitha, who is busy withgovernment formation in Tamil Nadu.
The ruling Congress won 11 seats, and its ally TMC two.
In the DMK front, DMK won seven seats, the Pudducherry Makkal Congress fourand the BJP one, thus making its debut to the assembly with its candidate A MKrishnamurthy winning from Reddiyarpalayam seat.

The PMK, which contested 10 seats, drew a blank.
