Asaduddin Owaisi on Thursday slammed Prime Minister Narendra Modi accusing him of failing to tackle the ongoing violent protests against the release of movie 'Padmaavat'.
"This is nothing but 'pakoda' politics practiced by BJP. Prime Minister & his party have meekly surrendered before these people who are protesting. He has 56 inch chest only for Muslims," ANI quoted Owaisi as saying.
Sanjay Leela Bhansali's film has been facing protests by the Karni Sena and other fringe groups over allegations that historical facts were distorted in the movie, based on the 16th-century poem Padmavat by Malik Muhammad Jayasi.
Violent protests hit Gujarat, Madhya Pradesh, Haryana and Rajasthan in the run-up to film’s release. Various fringe groups including Rajput Karni Sena has gone on a rampage, vandalized various cinema halls screening the movie, and even attacked school buses. On Wednesday, GD Goenka World School bus carrying students of class 1 and 2 was attacked by the protesters in Gurugram in Haryana.
