Police in Chennai have arrested Rama Seetha, a nutrionist from Perambur, for claiming that former Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Jayalalithaa had no pulse when she was hospitalized on September 22 last year.

A report in The Times Of India says that the complaint was filed by the management of Apollo Hospitals and the police has registered a case against her for spreading rumours.

After Seetha made a speech alleging the same at a function organized by Jayalalithaa’s niece Deepa Jayakumar, the Hospital filed a complaint with the cyber cell of the Chennai Police. The clip had gone viral on social media.

Seetha said that the hospital had shifted the CM to the Intensive Care Unit even though she did not have a pulse. She also alleged that arrangements for Jayalalithaa’s burial had been made 20 days after she had been admitted.

Jayalalithaa, then the Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu, was admitted to Apollo Hospital on the night of the 22nd of September with respiratory problems. After a long, protracted illness she was finally declared dead on December 5. There were rumours and reports during the period that she had actually passed away much earlier and that the information was withheld from the public.
