Not Against Kashmir Dialogues But The Bugle Sounded By Indian Govt A Big Joke: Syed Salahuddin

While the separatists are yet to speak up  on the dialogue process initiated by the government, chief of United Jihad Council Syed Salahuddin on Wedesday said they were not against any dialogue but the process should be tripartite and in accordance with the United Nations resolutions on Kashmir.

According to a local news agency, CNS, the UJC chief said the use of force has not succeeded to subdue Kashmiris.

“We are not against the dialogue but the dialogue bugle announced by India is a big joke. Kashmir is neither a territorial dispute between two countries nor an internal issue of any country. The fate of more than 1.40 crore souls are attached to it,” the agency said quoting Salahuddin.

Salahuddin has asked Pakistan to be proactive on political and diplomatic front and make the world aware of alleged human rights violations in Kashmir.  Salahuddin has called a strike on October 27 to protest against the landing of Indian Army in Kashmir.

The Centre government on Monday appointed former director of the Intelligence Bureau Dineshwar Sharma as an interlocutor to initiate dialogue within Jammu and Kashmir. The separatists have, so far, not responded to the development.

The three top separatist leaders, Syed Ali Geelani, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq and Yasin Malik who have joined together last year, have neither welcomed the appointment of the interlocutor nor rejected it.

While the chief minister Mehbooba Mufti has hailed the Centre’s decision to start the dialogue process in the State. She described it as a major step towards reconciliation and public outreach. The chief minister also asked the police to play its role in ensuring the success of the process by providing a congenial and positive atmosphere on the ground.

Addressing the attestation cum passing out parade at Police Training School, the CM said the Central government has taken a bold and major step in recent times to reach out to the people of the state and get them out of the turmoil.

She said the initiative needs to be made successful by providing a positive atmosphere on the ground for which she asked the police to play its role by acting as an element of public reassurance.

Lauding the role of the police in maintaining law and order in the state, Mehbooba Mufti said over the past year or so many young officers and jawans of the force, besides men from army and other security forces, have laid their lives for maintaining peace in the state.

She said the display of this exemplary patience during extreme situations was praiseworthy while reminding the audience that a decorated law-abidingprofessional force should draw a distinction from a bunch of anti-social hooligans out to trample order in the State. Maintaining this moral high ground, she said, is a challenge but given the professional stature the J&K police has attained over the years the organization would be rising to the occasion, she said in her address.

The CM advised the police department to adopt a healing touch approach while dealing with the day to day situation in the state. She said while chronic criminal elements need to be dealt with firmly care should be taken that innocent civilians are not put to any inconvenience. She asked the police that efforts should be made to persuade alienated youth to join back the mainstream society rather than going for a violent friction.

Terming the in-depth investigation of cases despite provocations and rumours as another challenge in day to day policing, the chief minister asked the police to remain steadfast on its professional commitment and take the investigations to their logical ends.

She added that the cases of braid chopping happened in other states as well, but in Jammu and Kashmir cases were lodged and probes ordered. She hoped the cases would be thoroughly investigated and persons and agencies involved would be unmasked.
