Jammu and Kashmir police on Thursday said that militants tortured a youth to death in south Kashmir’s Pulwama district.
A Srinagar-based police spokesman said that militants on Wednesday abducted two youth from Kulgam, Mehraj Ahmad of Kulgam and Arif Ahmad of Khudwani.
“Arif was later retrieved and his body bore visible torture marks. He was immediately shifted to hospital for treatment where he breathed his last”, the spokesman said.
The police have registered the case under relevant sections of law and investigations taken up.
Meanwhile, thousands of people participated in his funeral prayers held at his native village.
In his address to people at his son’s funeral, Fayaz Ahmed Sofi, said if his son was killed by militants, he would like to ask them to provide them proof that his son was an Army informer. He said he would not repent over his son’s death of the militants will come up with sound proof.

“I appeal people to ask militants to come up with proof. They should clarify on which basis they killed my son,” he said.
No militant outfit has claimed the responsibility of the killing.
A police official said that they have registered a case and investigation has been started to identify the assailants.
