The militants Wednesday looted nearly Rs 6 lakh from two branches of Ellaquai Dehati Bank (EDB) in south Kashmir’s Pulwama district.

Earlier this week, militants killed five policemen and two bank guards when they intercepted a cash-delivery van in Kulgam district.

On Wednesday Jammu and Kashmir Police announced a cash reward of Rs 10 lakh for information on Umer Majid, a Hizbul Mujahideen militant. The police say Majid is responsible for the killing of seven persons, including five policemen, in south Kashmir’s Kulgam district earlier this week. Police have pasted posters of Majid on walls announcing the cash reward that may lead the security agencies to him.
